This two-week cultural crossing of Iran begins in the capital and gradually moves northwest into Azerbaijan, across the Zagros mountain corridor, and finally descends toward the classical Persian south. The program links imperial capitals, UNESCO-listed archaeological zones, mountain villages, ethnic regions, and Safavid urban masterpieces into one continuous historical narrative.

Arrival at Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKA). After airport formalities, transfer to the hotel (approximately 1–1.5 hours depending on traffic). Time to rest and adjust after long-haul travel.
In the evening, a welcome dinner introduces the historical periods and regional transitions that shape the journey ahead.
Overnight: Tehran
The morning begins at Golestan Palace (UNESCO), the Qajar royal complex reflecting 19th-century Persia’s engagement with Europe. Continue to the National Museum of Iran, where artifacts trace the country’s civilizations from prehistoric settlements to Islamic dynasties.
After lunch around 13:30, visit Tabiat Bridge for panoramic views of modern Tehran. Optional evening stroll or café time.
Overnight: Tehran
Morning domestic flight to Tabriz (approximately 1.5 hours). Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel and lunch.
The afternoon is dedicated to the Tabriz Historic Bazaar Complex (UNESCO), one of the largest covered bazaars in the world, followed by the Constitutional House Museum, a key site of Iran’s early 20th-century reform movement.
Overnight: Tabriz
Explore the Blue Mosque, a remnant of Timurid elegance, and the Azerbaijan Museum. After lunch, drive about one hour to Kandovan, a troglodyte village where homes are carved directly into volcanic rock formations.
Walk through the stepped village lanes and enjoy tea with mountain views before returning to Tabriz (or optional overnight in Kandovan).

A scenic mountain drive of approximately 5–6 hours leads toward Takab. The landscape gradually shifts from green highlands to dramatic plateau terrain.
Arrival and hotel check-in. The afternoon remains relaxed to prepare for the next day’s archaeological exploration.

Spend the morning at Takht-e Soleyman (UNESCO), once a major Sassanian religious and imperial center built around a volcanic lake. Optional visit to Zendan-e Soleyman crater.
Lunch around 13:30. Afternoon at leisure.

Drive approximately 4.5–5 hours toward Hamadan. After lunch, visit the Avicenna Mausoleum and the Alavian Dome, reflecting Seljuk architectural heritage.
Evening stroll in the city center.

Travel through the Zagros Mountains (about 3.5 hours). In Sanandaj, explore the traditional bazaar and Asef Vaziri Mansion, an important Kurdish cultural site.
Lunch around 13:30. Late afternoon at leisure.
Overnight: Sanandaj
Drive approximately 3 hours to Kermanshah. After lunch, visit the Sassanian rock reliefs of Taq-e Bostan, carved into limestone cliffs beside a spring.
If time allows, visit Tekyeh Moaven al-Molk.
Overnight: Kermanshah
Morning transfer to Ahvaz by flight (about 1 hour), followed by a 1.5-hour drive to Shushtar.
Explore the Shushtar Historical Hydraulic System (UNESCO), a remarkable network of dams, canals, and watermills.
Overnight: Shushtar
Transfer to Ahvaz and flight to Shiraz (about 1.5 hours). After lunch, explore the Zandiyeh Complex including Arg-e Karim Khan and Vakil Bazaar.
Late afternoon visit to Nasir al-Molk Mosque for its colored glass illumination.
Overnight: Shiraz
Full-day excursion to Persepolis (UNESCO), the ceremonial capital of the Achaemenid Empire, followed by the royal tombs at Naqsh-e Rostam.
Return to Shiraz for evening rest.
Overnight: Shiraz
Visit Eram Garden (UNESCO) and Narenjestan Qavam. Continue with an exterior visit and cultural explanation of Shah Cheragh Shrine.
Afternoon free for cafés, handicraft shopping, or literary exploration.
Overnight: Shiraz
Free morning depending on flight time. Transfer to Shiraz International Airport for departure.
